Looks like the actual lifting it out did more damage. Looks like the straps dented the hood up.

It looks like the hood was removed and the strap was wrapped around the front grill and bumper area. Hood was probably reinstalled after it was on the ground. What looks like a dented hood is more like a blanket.

Must be a blanket or something. Looked like the straps mangled up the hood, but after looking at it again once the car is out of the hole, I'm going to guess it's a blanket or something so that the straps do not harm the metal.
Edit: Looks like maybe they removed the hood in the hole and lifted it out with contact points on the frame or engine, then reattached the hood.
